Les Extraits Collection

Louis Vuitton reinvents the Extrait de Parfum, the purest and most precious form in perfumery. Elevating perfume to an art form, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and Frank Gehry break the rules and create pure emotion. More than a collaboration, the collection is an encounter, an ode to movement, to its transparency and its fluidity.

An Extraordinary Journey

With five olfactory scores that compose an imaginary odyssey, Les Extraits Collection reflects the Spirit of Travel that Louis Vuitton has celebrated since its founding. Going ever farther, towards extraordinary horizons, Les Extraits Collection is inspired by the desire of sublime and spectacular getaways in time and space.

Extrait de Parfum, Reinvented

Inspired by Frank Gehry’s unique aesthetics based on movement and distortion, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud pushes hypersensitivity to the extreme, concentrating the quintessence of perfumery. Five fragrances without top, heart, or base notes, deconstructing the very architecture of fragrance, the master perfumer revisits perfume’s major themes, twisting them, expanding them, and exaggerating certain facets, in order to reveal ultimate purity.

A Sculptural Odyssey

This is the very first time that Frank Gehry, one of the greatest living masters of architecture, has designed a perfume bottle. Altering the lines of the original shape, the architect’s passion for sailing is expressed with added curves that suggest a transparent sail skimming through space. Taking the form of an imaginary metal flower, the cap reflects sea and spray, and above all, the absolute movement of life.

A One-of-a-Kind Encounter

A conversation between two masters who create and design, one with his eye, the other with his nose, the sharing of an ideal in both a material form and an invisible one comes to fruition in Les Extraits Collection.

I wanted to venture where no one goes anymore. To reinvent the notion of an Extrait in a contemporary way. To bring it light, expand matter, and lighten things up. I wanted to deconstruct the very architecture of perfume Jacques Cavallier Belletrud
I wanted to approach the project from a sculptural point of view. To bring something different to perfume. It’s not a finished geometric form, it’s just movement. Visual movement with the added interest of ephemerality. Frank Gehry

Myriad

Capturing the harmonious creativity of Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and world-renowned architect Frank Gehry, Les Extraits Collection elevates fragrance to an art form. Enriching the collection as the sixth opus, Myriad reinvents the exceptional essence of oud – a wood so precious it's known as the black gold of perfumery.

Dancing Blossom

A bright bouquet of sweeping emotions and subtlety are expressed in this composition of May rose petals and Osmanthus, further embellished by the fleshy beauty of Sambac jasmine and Indian tuberose.

Cosmic Cloud

With ethereal roundness and a whirlwind of weightless notes, the fragrance is caressed by fruity musk, punctuated by chocolatey splinters of Venezuelan Tonka bean.

Rhapsody

Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud reinvents chypre to the most sophisticated olfactive form in modern perfumery. Encapsulating luminosity and transparency, Jasmine and Patchouli are contrasted with fresh notes of maté and the voluptuousness of ylang ylang.

Symphony

For the first time Jacques Cavallier Belletrud explores a dazzling trail, where the radiant vibration of grapefruit meets the piquancy of ginger zest, and is combined with orange and bergamot, for endless freshness.

Stellar Times

A subliminal journey through time, the radiant and effervescent freshness of orange blossom mingle with white amber and the delicious vanilla notes of Peru balsam.

An Invitation to Travel

The new Flaconnier des Extraits designed by Frank Gehry celebrates Louis Vuitton’s heritage and trunk-making savoir-faire, showcasing the architect’s ability to create movement through static forms. Its rounded, supple shape perfectly houses all five bottles in Les Extraits Collection, while the crumpled metal details echo the bottle’s cap.
