Big Ben falls silent and time stands still. Robi Rodriguez casts London in an alternative reality with a calm and sober beauty, introducing figures at odds with their surroundings into the frame. London becomes the backdrop and its inhabitants the players in a narrative on the margins of everyday life. Through its play of shadows and light, together with its assertive sequencing, punctuated by the bridges straddling the Thames, this series of images reveals the majesty of the city.
Born in La Coruña, Spain, Robi Rodriguez came to photography after film studies at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. With enigmatic subjects steeped in jewel‑toned, ethereal light, his photographs often appear like film stills, narratives frozen in time. Now based in London, Rodriguez continues to work on new projects and shoots for an international roster of clients, while his work has been exhibited across the world.
Inspired by the House's travel heritage, the Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye Collection evokes cities, regions or countries through the eyes of fashion photographers, from emerging talents to industry legends. Each title in the series features an extensive selection of large-format photographs, together with biographical information and an interview with the photographer or a critical essay. After Louis Vuitton City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection presents travel photography with a fashion perspective, as the chosen photographers all infuse their images of great cities, faraway places or dream destinations with their unique vision.
