City Guide Basel - French Version
For the first time, the Louis Vuitton City Guide stops over in Basel, celebrating the cultural capital of Switzerland. On the banks of the Rhine River, bordering three countries, Basel is a multi-faceted city, full of contrasts and never-ending surprises. Its canton is the smallest, yet most densely populated in Switzerland and its artistic influence extends beyond its borders. Basel includes more than 40 museums and performing arts venues within just 37 square kilometres. The guest contributor of this guide is Elena Filipovic, the new director of Kunstmuseum Basel, who reveals the city as a cosmopolitan 'small town' with standards so high that it rises to the level of the world’s largest cities.
Both a trendsetter and an indicator of what is to come, a finger on the pulse of the developments at the heart of today’s cities, the Louis Vuitton City Guide has been exploring the world’s most vibrant metropolises for 20 years. Today, the collection includes just over 30 cities, scrutinised by the educated eye of authors from diverse horizons, experts in design, contemporary art, fashion, beauty, gastronomy and sports. From Paris to New York City to London to Tokyo, from the most fabulous hotels to the most sought-after restaurants, from the most tantalising boutiques to legendary historical sites and places that deserve to be better known, the world’s major capitals tell their stories in a unique, subjective way.
