  • MIND OF A VISIONARY

Share the views of five cutting-edge visionaries in fields as broad as literature, economics and politics interviewed at the 2014 World Economic Forum.

The World Economic Forum ‘s Annual meeting last January in Davos, Switzerland, gave Louis Vuitton the perfect setting to interview five business leaders of the international scene: Tom Reiss, Félix Marquardt, Atiq Rahimi, Gino Yu and Lourenço Bustani.

In these films, these entrepreneur travellers, chosen for their shared views and values in terms of excellence and innovation, discuss the notions of elegance, travelling and moving frontiers.

For Tom Reiss, elegance is “about remaining true to yourself first of all, (…) about keeping a connection to the past, keeping a connection to some kind of tradition. That’s very personal; it can be a very personal tradition (…) about finding meaning in what you wear just like there is meaning in what you do.”

Lay eyes on the Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2014 sunglasses collection for her and for him.

Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2014 sunglasses collection is a combination of striking retro shapes and subtle signatures with lots of dark tortoise and bright colours.

Women will find glamour and femininity in cat’s-eye shapes, an oversize design combining an acetate frame in fuchsia, violet, petrol blue or brown with a distinctive curved corner detail and arms in metal. The Louis Vuitton emblematic 3 layers acetate frame also offers an edgy style that suits oval as much as round faces. This season, models with innovative rotating hinges can be folded completely flat perfect for small clutches.

The men’s collection combines style and comfort with designs that feature flex hinges and ultra-lightweight acetate frames. A modern twist to vintage shapes is given thanks to a graphic play on the historic Damier signature. Beige, navy or eye-popping cyan blue, are the main colours proposed by this dapper men’s collection.

The Louis Vuitton Women Summer 2014 collection offers a new refreshing twist to essential pieces of ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories.

Slim Aaron’s famous photographs of international jet setters from the 60’s inspired the whole Summer 2014 collection. “Photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places” was Aaron’s statement. From there, fresh summer looks in pastel shades have been designed to suit both the most refined and relaxed tastes.

Above, a selection of the key pieces: a bikini top with 60’ panties in pastel colours to highlight the tan, a cotton silk tunic dress to wear on the beach and a fluid feminine dress for a more city look.

Also, for the first time in a Summer collection, the iconic Epi line is enhanced using a bright colour palette. To finish the silhouette, discover the comfortable flat espadrilles and elegant calf leather wedge sandals.

Parisian visual artist André Saraiva sent us a postcard to celebrate his collaboration with Louis Vuitton on the Spring Summer scarves collection.

For this new collaboration with Louis Vuitton André Saraiva used his studio drop cloth as the inspiration for the background of his interpretation of the House’s Monogram shawl. Once he had translated his paint spatters to the luxurious silk and wool wrap, it became a natural habitat for ‘Mr. A’, the artist’s signature character with asymmetrical eyes, who inhabits the walls and art galleries of Paris as well as many other international cities.

Born in 1971, he considered from a very young age that the walls belonged to him. « When I arrived in Paris in 1981, it was obvious to me that the street would become my school, my studio. Graffiti is a way of challenging the domination of the City on individuals, a way to own it ».

André Saraiva lives and works between Paris, New York and Los Angeles and is currently the Creative Director of French magazine L'Officiel Hommes. His artworks are presented in galleries across the world, from Paris to New York, Saint-Tropez, Stockholm, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
