LANDING AT HEATHROW

This December, Louis Vuitton opens its first European airport store at Heathrow Terminal Five.

Louis Vuitton has long anticipated the needs of the modern traveller. The new store at Heathrow Terminal Five perfectly highlights the Art of Travel legacy of Louis Vuitton. It is ideal timing that the opening will coincide with the arrival of the Cruise collection in stores. The collection, which was presented in Monaco by Nicolas Ghesquière, abounds in Aquatic motifs; from cut out ‘portholes’ on navy sweaters and maritime flares to dresses boasting decorative rich embroideries depicting coral branches.

For the occasion, Nicolas Ghesquière commissioned artist and filmmaker, Ange Leccia to create a visual installation. His film, Giraglia features the Mediterranean Sea and will be presented on a digital screen set within the impressive 6m façade of the store. “Giraglia is a small island very close to my Corsican home,” says Leccia. “When Louis Vuitton called me, I was with my camera in the water, searching for some images.” He adds: “I like to create works that have a physical, sensual impact. I hope it will bring nature and silence into this space; I hope it creates a relaxing area for the consumer.”
