• "BEYOND THE WALLS" EXHIBITION IN BEIJING

The exhibition “Fondation Louis Vuitton building in Paris by Frank Gehry” will be held in Beijing from 19th June to 16th August 2015, first step of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s project abroad.

As stated during its inauguration, the Fondation Louis Vuitton intends to deploy its artistic activities not only in Paris but also abroad. The first step of this "beyond-the-walls" programme will take place in Beijing from 19th June to 16th August 2015, in a specially allocated venue within the 'China World' complex.

From early sketches to the completion of work, the monographic exhibition focuses on Frank Gehry’s project for the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. It offers a new vision of the creative universe of the architect and Laureate of the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 1989, who has described the Foundation as a 'magnificent vessel that symbolizes France’s profound cultural vocation'.

The show will then travel to Tokyo, where it will be held in the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton from 15th October 2015. Future events in the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s "beyond-the-walls" art programme will be announced subsequently.

This June, the New Bond Street Maison will play host to debuting a preview of Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2015 Men collection ahead of its official launch in August.

The collection takes its cue from London designer and artist, Christopher Nemeth, who rebelliously fused Savile Row tailoring with street wear. Nemeth, who was born in Birmingham but resided in Tokyo from 1986 until his death in 2010 aged 51, was an unsung hero of British fashion who was relatively unknown in the UK, but not to Louis Vuitton men’s artistic director, Kim Jones, who says Nemeth’s work defined London during the 1980s. "He trained as a fine artist and came into fashion from being an illustrator, and that chimes with how I started," reveals Jones, continuing, "I wanted to openly celebrate his life and work." Jones sourced four original prints from Nemeth’s archive and collaborated with stylist and accessories designer, Judy Blame – a member of Nemeth’s creative force – on jewellery, while also consulting with Nemeth’s widow and daughters on other details of the collection. Jones’ vision manifests as cork embossed cashmere, laser etchings on shearling, even a flocked suitcase – which all marry the standout craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton’s ateliers with the wit and originality of Nemeth’s world. P.S. Nemeth’s middle name? Louis. Now that’s serendipity.

Louis Vuitton Women Pre-Fall 2015 Collection.

The first Pre-Fall collection by Nicolas Ghesquière for the Maison Louis Vuitton.

Fifteen strong looks that nonetheless remain open to multiple interpretations and possibilities through the layering of complementary elements.

It is about listening to the clothes and understanding the tempo of their materials: dotted swiss under leather, ruching with quilting, tweed and knit, velvet and lace, MONOGRAM canvas and slim twill.
